New Zealand gets special Google doodle
Google is celebrating the 160th birthday of famous Scottish novelist Robert Louis Stevenson with a special "doodle" on its New Zealand and Australian home pages.
The California-based company has a custom of celebrating special events by designing doodles that spell out the letters in its name. More than 700 have been designed internationally.
The new doodle contains paintings from Stevenson's famous novel Treasure Island.
The first letter G can be seen on the pirate, O in compass of the map, another O on the mountains, G on the ship, L on the pirates' flag and the final letter E on the treasure box.
Robert Louis Stevenson was born in 1850 and was a celebrated novelist and travel writer. His most famous works include Treasure Island and The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
Stevenson spent years sailing around the Pacific, and spent time in Tahiti and Samoa, as well as New Zealand.
